Parish Church of the Assumption, Qrendi, Baroque parish church in Qrendi, Malta.
The Parish Church of the Assumption is a limestone baroque structure in Qrendi featuring a Latin cross floor plan with a central nave and two transepts. Inside, ten altars line the walls while two bell towers rise from the building's stone exterior.
Construction started in 1685 under architect Lorenzo Gafà and was completed in 1712. The building replaced an earlier church from 1620 that had stood on the same site.
The church serves as the spiritual center where the local community gathers regularly for worship and celebration. Religious imagery and the arrangement of altars show what matters most to the people who belong here.
The church is generally open during daytime hours, especially around regular mass times and religious celebrations. Visitors should dress respectfully and avoid entering during active services.
The floor was originally paved with stone slabs that covered burial tombs beneath. In 1955, workers replaced this surface with Italian marble during restoration work.
