De Vluchtheuvel, Former amusement park in Noordenveld, Netherlands
De Vluchtheuvel was an amusement park in the Norg region that combined rides with swimming pools nestled among trees and forest. The grounds featured different zones for play and water activities, all arranged within a natural woodland setting.
The site started in the 1960s as a children's farm and zoo before becoming an amusement park with various rides and attractions. A fire in 2010 destroyed the restaurant building, which led to the eventual transformation of the property into something different.
The site served families as a gathering place where both children and adults could enjoy entertainment and water activities in one location. The combination of rides and swimming created a space where visitors spent full days together without needing to travel elsewhere.
The location is set within woodland between towns and was about 10 minutes by car from the A28 motorway. The flat terrain and wide pathways made it straightforward to navigate around the site and reach all the different areas.
The park featured a mascot called Norgie the squirrel who greeted visitors and was inspired by local forest wildlife. This character became a recognizable symbol that many visitors remembered from their childhood visits.
