Hofje van Staats, Historical almshouse complex in Haarlem, Netherlands.
The Hofje van Staats features thirty individual residences surrounding a large inner garden with a central entrance marked by a clock tower.
Founded in 1730 by lace trader IJsbrand Staats, the almshouse was constructed over three years following designs by Hendrik de Werff under Abraham Kleyn's supervision.
The residence requirements specified single Reformed women over 50 years old who could pay 50 florins and provide their own basic furnishings.
The complex underwent renovations in 1992, reducing the number of residences to twenty while maintaining the yellow and black shutters reflecting the Staats family colors.
Two regent rooms in the main building remain preserved but unused since 1760, when the administration merged with nearby Hofje van Noblet.
