Saba Bank, Submarine atoll in Caribbean Sea, Netherlands

The Saba Bank extends over 2600 square kilometers, forming a limestone platform that rises 1000 meters from the Caribbean Sea floor.

The Dutch Caribbean authorities established fishing regulations in 1994, prohibiting foreign vessels from accessing the bank without official permits.

Marine researchers conduct regular expeditions to study the bank's biodiversity, documenting over 200 fish species and multiple whale populations.

The International Maritime Organization enforces strict no-anchoring regulations across the entire marine protected area to prevent coral reef damage.

Scientists discovered more than 20 deep marine sinkholes within the bank, with depths reaching 375 meters below the surface.
