Arboretum Poort-Bulten

Arboretum Poort-Bulten is a garden in Losser featuring an extensive collection of trees and shrubs from different climates around the world. The plantings are organized into thematic areas, including a dedicated section for conifers that displays various European and American species.

Textile manufacturers founded this site in the early 1900s as an extension of their local industry. During World War II, the grounds served as a safe shelter for downed Allied pilots.

The name comes from two farm properties that once occupied this land. Visitors can explore how the layout reflects different geographical zones, each planted to recreate natural environments from around the world.

The site is easy to walk around and most paths are flat and well-paved, ideal for visitors of all abilities. Benches are scattered throughout, so you can sit and observe the surroundings.

A gardener named Springer designed a dedicated conifer section in 1912 that continues to grow and expand today. This area remains one of the most visited sections and displays rare varieties from different parts of Europe and North America.
