The Koepelkerk features a five-sided floor plan with a central dome, combining Byzantine architecture with Art Deco elements through natural stone blocks and wrought iron details.
Architect Tjeerd Kuipers designed this church as his fiftieth project in 1923, incorporating elements from Berlagiaanse, Byzantine, and Art Deco architectural movements.
The stained glass windows display symbols of evangelists and important dates related to Queen Wilhelmina's reign, reflecting Dutch royal and religious connections.
Located at Vredeman De Vriesstraat 24a in Leeuwarden, the building transformed from a Protestant church into the Koepeltheater cultural venue in 2014.
The church houses the largest organ in Friesland, installed in 1935, replacing the original 1927 instrument with a piece from Tilburg's Heilig-Hartkerk.
