Berendonck

Berendonck is a recreation area built around a large lake with sandy beaches, wooded areas, and facilities for water sports and swimming. The site includes a beach pavilion for food and beverages, along with separate zones for different activities around the water's edge.

The area was developed in the early 2000s to provide residents of Nijmegen and Wijchen with outdoor recreation and water sports opportunities. It was created as a modern leisure project to combine access to nature with organized sporting activities.

The site features an 834-meter cable water skiing system that lets skiers circle the lake on a powered line, making the sport accessible to beginners. This setup eliminates the need for a boat and allows people to practice repeatedly without stopping.
