ACU

ACU is a music venue and community center located at Voorstraat 71 in Utrecht, operated by volunteers and self-managed since its establishment. The space features performance areas, exhibition space, a restaurant, and rooms for various community activities and gatherings.

The building was originally an auto repair shop before being occupied in 1976 and converted into a cultural space. By 1978, a bar and exhibition areas were established, forming the foundation for today's diverse programming.

The space hosts concerts, club nights, and political gatherings that draw different communities together throughout the year. Visitors can experience the vegan restaurant and find a library full of resources reflecting the values of those who use it.

The venue is open Tuesday through Sunday and operates on a cash-only basis for all transactions. Visitors should expect strict enforcement of policies against harassment and smoking to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

A meal distribution program was launched in 2020 to help people during the pandemic while maintaining community connections. The venue shifted many activities to online platforms to continue engaging with supporters during lockdowns.
