Kamp Vledder, Labor camp in Vledder, Netherlands
Kamp Vledder was a labor camp near Vledder with multiple barracks where workers performed manual tasks. One original barrack structure remains standing today and is used by local sports organizations.
The camp operated from January to October 1942 with approximately 180 Jewish men before they were relocated to Westerbork. From there they were subsequently deported to concentration camps.
A memorial stone with a plaque installed in 1995 honors the Jewish workers who suffered and labored here. The site functions today as a place where visitors can remember these individuals.
The site is accessible year-round and offers insight into a little-known chapter of local history. Visitors should plan to approach the memorial respectfully and allow time for reflection.
Workers here constructed the Jodenweg road, which retains that name today as a geographic reminder of their forced labor. The street name itself serves as a permanent marker of what happened at this location.
