Gebouw voor Kunsten en Wetenschappen, Neoclassical concert hall in Mariaplaats, Netherlands

The Gebouw voor Kunsten en Wetenschappen features a white plastered facade with nine window axes and three adjacent gable roofs on its two-story structure.

Built between 1844 and 1846 by architect Johannes van Maurik, the building incorporates remaining walls from the medieval St. Marie Church choir.

Franz Liszt and Johannes Brahms performed in this concert hall, where Brahms introduced his piano concertos to the Dutch audience.

The Fentener van Vlissingenzaal houses both Yamaha and Steinway grand pianos, making it suitable for classical music performances and educational purposes.

After a destructive fire in 1988 that left only exterior walls standing, the building underwent reconstruction while preserving its historical facade.
