Description
The water tower in Schimmert is a storage structure with two stairwell towers and five floors plus a basement under a half-conical roof. The structure stands at about 38 meters tall and sits on the highest point of the Schimmert plateau.
History
The structure was built between 1926 and 1927 following designs by architect Jos Wielders in the Amsterdam School style. It received monument status as a Rijksmonument in 1997, protecting an important example of early Dutch water management engineering.
Culture
The tower rises prominently on high ground and marks the village landscape with its distinctive silhouette. The red and yellow brickwork shows the craftsmanship of its era and makes the structure a recognizable landmark in the local area.

The tower is located at De Bockhofweg 1 and sits on elevated ground, making it visible from a distance. Access by foot or bicycle is straightforward from the surrounding roads.
