Museum Drachten, Modern art museum in Drachten, Netherlands
Museum Drachten occupies a former Franciscan monastery building in the center of Drachten, featuring extensive exhibitions of contemporary and modern artworks throughout multiple galleries.
The structure was originally constructed as a monastery designed by H.H. de Graaf from Den Bosch, and later transformed into a town hall in 1972 before becoming a museum in 1996.
The museum houses significant collections of Dada, De Stijl, and expressionist art movements, including works by Theo van Doesburg, Kurt Schwitters, and H.N. Werkman from 1885 to 1965.
The museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with admission prices of €12 for adults and free entry for children under 12 years old.
The collection includes the Netherlands' largest funnel beaker and maintains the Van Doesburg-Rinsemahuis, integrating architectural design with artistic expression.
