2014 Nuclear Security Summit

2014 Nuclear Security Summit, International nuclear security conference at World Forum Convention Center, The Hague, Netherlands.

The 2014 Nuclear Security Summit was an international conference held in The Hague that gathered government leaders and representatives from many countries to discuss how to protect nuclear materials and prevent their misuse. The event took place at the World Forum Convention Center and brought together diplomats, officials, and media from around the world.

This was the third in a series of summits created to improve global control over atomic weapons and nuclear materials. The meeting took place while international attention was focused on the Ukraine crisis, which underscored the urgency of the discussions.

Representatives from 53 countries demonstrated international cooperation through gift basket initiatives, including the Netherlands Forensic Institute's nuclear expertise contribution.

This was a highly secure event with extensive measures in place to protect attendees and the venue throughout The Hague. Visitors and locals should have expected traffic restrictions and heightened security protocols around the World Forum Convention Center area.

An exceptionally large diplomatic gathering took place in the Netherlands, with an unprecedented level of security personnel and government representation. A significant moment occurred when Japan announced it would transfer certain nuclear materials to the United States.
