Hervormde kerk

The church stands prominently on Hoofdweg with a medieval tower and features ornate stone carvings, including the Rengers-Piccardt coat of arms from 1694.

Built between 1692 and 1700 by architects H. Coeur and G. van der Aa, incorporating a 13th-century tower that originally stood separate from the main structure.

The church interior contains a mechanical tower clock by Jos van de Kerkhof and houses an organ constructed by Arp Schnitger in 1695.

The Protestant Community of Scharmer-Harkstede maintains regular services and provides access to church bulletins through their website registration system.

Under the church lies a crypt containing three coffins, including those of Henric Piccardt and Anna Elisabeta Rengers, while the tower houses a former prison cell.
