Goslerhuisje, Historic warehouse at Sint Antoniesluis, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Goslerhuisje is a narrow building at Sint Antoniesluis with a pointed gable roof, stone banding, and decorative volutes. It now houses Café De Sluyswacht and shows the typical Amsterdam gable style from the 1600s.
The building was constructed in 1695 as a sluice keeper's house and later became a metal trading business for the Gosler family. It survived World War II and remains one of the original structures in the area.
The building recalls Joden Houttuinen street and the Jewish presence in Amsterdam's trading quarter. The name comes from the Gosler family, who worked here for many generations.
The building now houses a small café offering a good spot to sit and observe the bridge area. It is easy to locate since it sits directly at the bridge and is visible from the busy street.
A spiral staircase descends into the cellar and still bears wear marks from generations of the Gosler family's work. These everyday traces silently tell of the long labor that took place here.
