Nicolaaskerk

Nicolaaskerk is a Catholic church in Valkenswaard featuring three naves arranged in a cross shape with side aisles extending from the center. The exterior displays decorative brickwork that gives the building its distinctive appearance.

The church was built in 1927 following designs by architect Jan Stuyt and replaced an earlier neo-Gothic building from 1858 that stood on the same site. The new structure reflected architectural developments of the early 1900s.

The church features stained glass windows showing religious figures and biblical scenes that fill the interior with colored light. Visitors can observe these artworks as they move through the space.

The church sits in the center of Valkenswaard and is easy to reach on foot, near the town market area. Visitors should check opening hours before arriving, as the building primarily functions for worship and religious services.

The tower entrance displays a relief of Christ accompanied by a Latin inscription meaning 'House of God, Gateway of Heaven'. The round stair turret positioned alongside two polygonal chapel nooks creates an unusual architectural detail on this facade.
