De Hunnerberg sits on a strategic Pleistocene ridge by the Waal river, featuring residential structures from the late 19th to early 20th century.

Archaeological excavations at De Hunnerberg revealed two Roman camps and an aqueduct, including remnants of the Tenth Legion's Fort Sterreschans.

The neighborhood contains several national monuments, including the former Canisius College main building, Maria Geboortekerk, and the former Museum Kam.
