Langeby

Langeby is a sandy beach in Sandefjord that stretches about 150 meters along the Sandefjordsfjorden with calm, shallow water ideal for swimming. The shoreline slopes gently, making it especially suitable for beginners and families.

Archaeological finds near Vesteroyveien indicate that people lived in this area thousands of years ago. These early traces show the location was used as a settlement long before modern times.

The name Langeby comes from Langibyr, meaning the long farm, which reflects the agricultural past of this coastal area.

The beach has restrooms, changing rooms, showers, a playground, a soccer field, and a volleyball court available for visitors. These facilities make it a complete destination for spending a full day with family or friends.

The historic Langeby Pier served for many years as an important mooring point for local fishermen on West Island. This connection to fishing tradition gives the location a deeper heritage beyond its current role as a swimming beach.
