Baranów Sandomierski Castle, Renaissance castle in Baranów Sandomierski, Poland
Baranów Sandomierski Castle is a structure with four corner towers, an arcade courtyard, and decorated roof sections that show Renaissance elements from the 16th century. The rooms are spacious with vaulted ceilings, while the walls and outer areas display solid stonework and brick construction.
The Leszczyński family commissioned Italian architect Santi Gucci to design and build it, with construction finishing in 1606. Additional reinforcements were added in the 1620s to strengthen the structure.
The castle displays how Polish nobility lived across centuries, with rooms that still show the daily world of that era. Visitors see furnishings and objects from different periods that tell how life here changed over generations.
Visitors can explore the rooms on their own or join guided tours available in multiple languages. The site has a hotel section and conference areas, allowing guests to stay overnight or hold events there.
On the ground floor sits a chapel in art nouveau style, where stained glass windows by Józef Mehoffer bring light to the space. The altar was crafted by artist Jacek Malczewski, creating a striking blend of artistic traditions.
