Krzanowice, Municipality in Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Krzanowice is a small town and municipality in the Silesian Voivodeship of southern Poland, situated directly on the border with the Czech Republic. It covers several smaller villages and is crossed by regional road DW917, which links it to nearby towns.
The settlement received town privileges in the 13th century, pointing to an early role as a local center in the region. Over the following centuries, the area passed through Silesian, Habsburg and Prussian rule before becoming part of Poland after World War I.
The Church of Saint Wenceslaus stands at the center of the settlement and shows baroque architectural features from different periods. It remains an active gathering place for religious celebrations and local events.
Racibórz, a larger town to the northeast, is easily reachable and offers a wider range of services for visitors. As this is a small municipality, it is worth checking in advance what facilities are available locally before planning a longer stay.
Krzanowice is home to a notably large German-speaking community, which means that road signs and place names appear in both Polish and German throughout the area. This makes it one of the few places in Poland where a minority language is officially visible in public space.
