Bishop's Palace, Kraków, Renaissance palace in central Kraków, Poland

The Bishop's Palace stands as the second largest palace in Kraków, featuring Renaissance architecture with an arcaded loggia in its central courtyard.

During World War II in 1944, Cardinal Sapieha provided shelter to seminary students within the palace walls after a Nazi roundup operation.

The palace contains a private chapel where Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, who later became Pope John Paul II, received his ordination to priesthood.

While the interior remains closed to public access, visitors can enter the courtyard to view the first monument of Pope John Paul II from 1980.

The palace window above the entrance, known as the Papal Window, served as a speaking platform for Pope John Paul II during his visits to Kraków.
