Warsaw Railway Museum

The Railway Museum in Warsaw's Wola district houses locomotives, railway cars, station equipment, and personal items from railway workers across different eras. The building itself was once a working train depot and retains the layout and feel of an active railway terminal.

The museum was founded in 1928 and traces Polish railway history from its earliest days to modern times. After occupying several locations, it settled in 1972 at this former station building, which was part of the historic route linking Warsaw to Vienna.

The museum shows how trains shaped everyday life for Polish people and connected distant regions together. Visitors can see how railway workers and travelers depended on this network in their daily routines.

The museum is easily reached by public transport and sits in an accessible district with cafes and small shops nearby. Allow at least a couple of hours to explore the exhibits at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed.

The museum building is one of the few remaining structures from the historic Warsaw-Vienna Railway, which once cut across Europe with direct passenger lines. This means visitors step into an actual piece of that transcontinental rail route.
