Oksa, Village in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland
Oksa is a rural settlement in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, situated about 18 kilometers northwest of Jędrzejów. The village consists of scattered houses and agricultural lands typical of small settlements in this region.
The settlement was founded in 1554 and named after a heraldic symbol depicting an axe. A significant engagement during the January Uprising took place here in 1863.
The Oksa Parish Church, constructed in 1570, represents the religious evolution from a Calvinist prayer house to a Roman Catholic institution under Cistercian management.
The village can be explored on foot or by car as a typical rural destination. Visiting during warmer months offers the best experience when the countryside is most appealing.
A significant battle of the January Uprising occurred in Oksa on October 20, 1863, leading to the settlement losing its town status four years later.
