Markuszów, Administrative village in Puławy County, eastern Poland
Markuszów is a village in the Lublin region of eastern Poland and serves as the administrative center of its district. It has a kindergarten and secondary school that serve the local population.
The village is first documented in 1317 as an established settlement. It later became a significant center for the Jewish community, which grew to over 2,000 people before World War II.
The primary school here is named after Jan Pocek, a folk poet from the nearby village of Zabłocie. The school serves as a cultural landmark that connects the community to this local literary heritage.
The village sits roughly 22 kilometers east of Puławy and about 25 kilometers northwest of Lublin. It is best visited during daylight hours to explore the local points of interest at a relaxed pace.
A Jewish cemetery from the early 19th century stands here with about 20 visible tombstones spread across half a hectare of land. This quiet memorial preserves the memory of the area's former Jewish community.
