Zarszyn, Administrative village in Sanok County, Poland
Zarszyn is a village in Sanok County, southeastern Poland, and serves as the seat of Gmina Zarszyn. It sits in the rolling hills of the Subcarpathian region, surrounded by fields and small farms that stretch across the gently sloping land.
Zarszyn has existed as a settlement since the medieval period, growing gradually around farming on the surrounding slopes. When Poland reorganized its administrative divisions in the late 20th century, the village was designated the seat of its own municipality.
The Church of Saint Martin and Our Lady of the Scapular stands at the heart of the village, where locals gather for Sunday mass, seasonal feasts, and community celebrations. Walking past it on any given Sunday, you can hear singing from inside and see groups of neighbors talking after the service.
The village is easily reached by car from Sanok, which lies just a short drive away along regional roads. The center is compact, so most points of interest can be reached on foot once you arrive.
Near Zarszyn, the station at Odrzechowa keeps one of Poland's largest herds of Simmental cattle, a breed valued for both milk and meat production. This makes the surrounding area a point of reference for farmers working with this breed across the country.
