Saint Catherine of Alexandria church in Braniewo

Saint Catherine of Alexandria church is a brick structure built in Gothic style, featuring tall windows, a seven-story tower, and three apses on the eastern side. The construction displays classic characteristics of brick Gothic with sturdy walls and detailed architectural elements.

Construction began in 1343 on the site of an earlier wooden church from 1251, with different sections completed through 1442. The building underwent major reconstruction between 1975 and 1986 to repair damage from World War II.

The church serves as a central gathering place for Catholic worship and community events in the local area. It remains deeply connected to the religious life of the Warmian-Masurian region in northern Poland.
