Manor in Motycz

The Manor in Motycz is an early 20th century building located in the village of Motycz in the Lublin region and is protected as a historical monument. The estate includes the main house with its characteristic architecture, farm buildings such as a barn and wood shed, a worker's house built in 1910, and several smaller dwellings from the 1920s and 1930s.

The manor traces its origins back to the 14th century when it belonged to the Firlej family and later changed owners, including the Zaklik family in the late 15th century. The current building was constructed between 1843 and 1849 by Baron Karol Boksender, and during World War I it served as a hospital for wounded soldiers after the battle at Jastków in 1915.

The manor served multiple roles for the local community during the 20th century, functioning as a hospital, school, and gathering place for residents. The buildings and gardens reflect how this estate supported different aspects of village life over the decades.

The grounds are accessible for walking through the 19th century garden with its old trees and quiet paths where visitors can explore the surrounding buildings. The site is best enjoyed at a relaxed pace, allowing time to walk around the property and take in both the architecture and the natural setting.

Near the manor, an old mound has yielded ancient coins and pottery fragments suggesting early settlements in the area. Local residents report seeing strange lights and shadows on the mound, adding a layer of mystery to the otherwise peaceful surroundings.
