Skarpa Wiślicka Nature Reserve, Nature reserve in Wiślica, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Skarpa Wiślicka is a nature reserve with forest cover on a steep slope along the left bank of the Vistula valley. The site spans roughly 29 hectares and features diverse forest vegetation adapted to the hillside terrain.
The protected area was established in 1996 by the Environment Ministry, initially covering around 24 hectares. Since then, the reserve has expanded to better safeguard the forest and its ecological role.
The name refers to the steep slope that defines the landscape and draws walkers exploring the natural forest structure. Visitors can experience here the characteristic vegetation of the region, adapted to the particular conditions of hillside terrain.
The area lies near National Road 81 between Katowice and Skoczów and is fairly easy to reach. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since steep slopes and uneven forest paths require appropriate gear.
The area holds the largest natural concentration of mountain elm trees in the Cieszyn Silesia region, with some specimens several decades old. This remarkable collection makes it a special place for those interested in discovering rare tree species.
