Rezerwat przyrody Szwajcaria Podlaska, Nature reserve near Terespol, Poland
Szwajcaria Podlaska Reserve is a nature reserve along the Bug River with steep slopes featuring different types of forest and interesting rock formations. The landscape includes both elevated areas and flat sections, creating varied habitats across the protected site.
The area gained protected status in 1995 to preserve its local ecosystems and river landscapes. This decision reflected growing recognition of the need to protect natural areas in the region.
Visitors come here to experience the natural features of the Podlasie region firsthand through marked paths and information stations. The way the landscape is organized helps people understand how river ecosystems work in this part of Poland.
A nature trail of about 3 kilometers starts from the parking area and guides visitors through the reserve with marked signs along the way. The path is manageable on foot and includes stopping points for observation and reading information boards.
The reserve contains old river channels that change water levels with the seasons, creating special habitats for white storks, herons, and cranes. These seasonal shifts make the area an important breeding ground for migratory birds passing through the region.
