Wielka Kopa, Mountain summit in Wieściszowice, Poland
Wielka Kopa is a mountain summit in the Rudawy Janowickie range that reaches 871 meters above sea level in eastern Lower Silesia. The peak is connected to neighboring summits by a series of ridges that form the distinctive backbone of this highland area.
Until 1945, a wooden observation tower 15 meters tall stood at the summit, offering views across the surrounding Sudetes. This structure was a notable landmark in the region before World War II.
The mountain forms part of the Rudawy Janowickie Landscape Park, which preserves the natural heritage of Lower Silesia through environmental protection measures.
Two marked hiking trails reach the summit: a green route from Kowary via Skalnik and a yellow path from Kamienna Góra via Raszów. The mountain sits within the Rudawy Janowickie Landscape Park, where visitors can navigate easily on well-marked paths.
The mountain displays a fascinating geological composition with metamorphic rocks, particularly sericite-chlorite-quartz schists and amphibolites derived from the eastern shield of Karkonosze granite. These rocks record deep geological processes that occurred millions of years ago.
