Wzgórze Trzech Krzyży w Kazimierzu Dolnym, Religious hilltop monument in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland
Wzgórze Trzech Krzyży is a hilltop in Kazimierz Dolny crowned with three wooden crosses visible from the old town and rising above the valley. The ascent follows stone steps surrounded by walking paths that wind through green slopes.
The crosses were erected in 1708 to remember victims of a plague epidemic during the Northern War. Since then, they have been a landmark of the hill and shape the cultural memory of the town.
The hill takes its name from the three crosses that have shaped the landscape for centuries and serve as a sign of devotion for visitors. They remind people of difficult times and encourage pauses to reflect while taking in views of the valley.
The ascent from Zamkowa Street is possible on well-marked paths and takes about 15 minutes on foot. The site is accessible during daylight hours, and a small fee is collected at the entrance.
The slopes contain rare plant species like dwarf cherry trees and feather grass that form a distinct ecosystem. This specialized vegetation is typical of the Vistula riverbanks and attracts nature enthusiasts.
