The Church of Saint Francis Seraphic is a Baroque structure on Garbary Street with two slender towers located in central Poznań. The towers rise approximately 69 meters and feature ornate openwork spires that create a striking vertical accent.
An original Gothic structure from 1473 was destroyed during the Swedish invasion in 1655 and subsequently rebuilt in Baroque style between 1661 and 1668. The reconstruction fundamentally shaped the appearance seen today.
The church serves as the main Franciscan provincial center in the city and displays interior Baroque decorations with carved figures and an ornately designed altar.
Access is available during regular worship times when daily masses are held and special services occur on religious holidays. Visitors should plan according to service schedules and expect crowds during major celebrations.
The elaborate towers were designed in 1730 by Jan Stier from Leszno and have defined Poznań's skyline as a distinctive landmark ever since. The intricate stone lattice work is visible from many vantage points throughout the city.
