Palace in Nakomiady

The Palace in Nakomiady is a Baroque building featuring grand staircases and ornately designed rooms. The structure displays iron-hinged doors and decorative elements crafted using traditional plaster and glaze techniques throughout.

The site received a fortress built by the Teutonic Knights in 1396, which was later transformed into a palace around 1705 by architect Joseph Piola. This transformation marked the shift from military to aristocratic residence.

The building reflects Dutch Baroque elements combined with classical design principles from the Renaissance period. The rooms display traditional craftsmanship that remains visible in the interior details today.

The palace operates as a hotel today, offering modern amenities while preserving its original Baroque architecture. Visitors can explore the historic rooms while enjoying contemporary comforts.

The surrounding gardens contain English roses, artichokes, purple cabbage, lavender, marjoram, sage, and rosemary arranged in traditional patterns. This plant diversity creates a historical garden landscape reflecting life from earlier times.
