9 Kolbego Street in Zduńska Wola

9 Kolbego Street is the birth house of Maximilian Kolbe and operates as a museum displaying rooms preserved from the 19th century. The residence contains original furniture including a crib, beds, sideboards, and dressers that give a sense of family life at that time.

Maximilian Kolbe was born here in 1894 and later became a religious figure of significant importance. The building became a museum in 1994 to mark the centenary of his birth and preserve his legacy.

Kolbe's family worked as weavers from this house, and visitors can see the looms and tools they used in their craft. The space shows how religious devotion and daily labor were closely intertwined in family life here.

The museum is open on weekdays in both morning and afternoon sessions, while weekend visits are best scheduled for late afternoon. Good walking shoes are recommended since the rooms are spread across multiple levels with narrow stairs leading to upper floors.

An altar is preserved in the attic of the house, showing that the Kolbe family practiced their faith in the most private spaces of their home. This family prayer space reveals how deeply their spiritual life permeated their everyday existence.
