Zbiornik Rydzyna, خزان مائي في بولندا
Zbiornik Rydzyna is a water reservoir in Gmina Rydzyna covering about 40 hectares with an average depth of roughly 1.8 meters and capacity for up to one million cubic meters. A path runs along the top of the dam, allowing walkers and cyclists to circulate around the water while viewing the surrounding open fields.
The reservoir was built between 2011 and 2013 at a cost of about 30 million zloty, with most funding coming from rural development sources. The project arose from a need to protect the city of Rydzyna and surrounding farms from repeated spring floods and heavy summer rainfall.
The reservoir serves as a gathering place where local families spend their free time together and connect with the water landscape. For the community, it represents a shift from viewing water mainly as a practical concern to embracing it as a recreational and social space.
The location is easy to reach with a free parking area nearby and is accessible for people of all mobility levels. There are no food vendors or restrooms on site, so visitors should bring their own supplies or eat before arriving.
Near the reservoir stands an old wooden mill called Wiatrak Józef on Mill Hill, a curious reminder of earlier times when mills powered local work. This historic structure offers a striking contrast to the modern water management project and adds character to the surrounding landscape.
