Očaga, Lake in Serbia
Očaga is an artificial reservoir created from former mining areas near Lazarevac, consisting of two sections: the older and newer lake. The site features walking paths around the water, sandy beaches with water slides and diving platforms for swimmers, and sports courts along the shores.
The lake formed in the 1970s from coal mining activities in the Kolubara region, with the site repurposed for recreation after lignite extraction. This transformation of an industrial mining area into a public leisure and sports facility represents an example of industrial land reclamation.
This reservoir was created following mining activities on the site and now serves as a gathering place for the Lazarevac community. People come for local sports events and festivals, using the space to spend time together and enjoy recreational activities with family and friends.
The water is filtered daily and remains clean for swimming and water activities throughout the year. Visitors find ample parking easily, especially during summer months, and can refresh themselves at waterside restaurants with food and drinks.
The older section of the lake allows fishing, while the newer section is reserved exclusively for swimming and relaxation, giving each area a distinct purpose. This division means visitors can choose which section suits their interests, rather than having a single unified space.
