Babičko Monastery, објекат и непокретно културно добро у Јабланичком управном округу, Србија
Babičko Monastery is a religious site near a small village with a simple stone church featuring a rounded apse and bell tower visible from across the landscape. The complex includes the main church built in 1838, a dome added in 1926, older accommodation buildings, and a modern structure erected in 2006.
The monastery was founded in the 16th century with the first recorded mention in 1536, during a time when the region was recovering from Ottoman rule. It was renovated in the 19th century and became an active center of spiritual and educational life, with a school established on the site in 1868.
The monastery is a center of Serbian Orthodox faith where centuries-old traditions continue through daily prayer and worship. The frescos and icons inside show how religious art and belief have been passed down through generations within this community.
The monastery is located about ten kilometers from Leskovac and can be reached by local roads passing through a small village. The site offers a calm setting for visitors seeking peace or spiritual reflection, with basic lodging available on the grounds.
Next to the monastery stands a memorial with a marble plaque honoring soldiers who died in wars between 1912 and 1920. This memorial connects the spiritual site to Serbia's national history and reminds visitors of the sacrifices made during that era.
