Danilov is an administrative center in Yaroslavl Oblast, situated on the banks of the River Pelenda. The town serves as a regional hub with various residential and commercial buildings spread throughout its layout.
The settlement originated in the 13th century when Daniil, son of Alexander Nevsky, established the original village. It was first recorded in written documents in 1592 and gradually developed into a regional center.
By 1856, Danilov developed into a regional center with three churches, 422 residential buildings, and 170 commercial establishments serving the local population.
The M8 Highway connects this town to major regions and provides convenient road access. A railway station links the settlement to Yaroslavl, Vologda, and other destinations in the area.
The town operates a cheese production facility that manufactures traditional dairy products as a key regional industry. This production has given the settlement particular importance in the area's food economy.
