Zavolzhye

Zavolzhye is an industrial town on the right bank of the Volga River, located about 56 kilometers northwest of Nizhny Novgorod. The skyline is shaped by engine factories and tractor manufacturing plants that define the town's economic and physical character.

The town was founded in 1947 during post-war reconstruction and was granted city status in 1964. This growth coincided with the construction of the Gorky Hydroelectric Station, which brought significant development to the region.
