Founded in 1948, the museum initially housed Lenin's funeral train, including the U-127 steam locomotive and funeral van No 1691 used during this significant event.
The museum presents comprehensive exhibitions about Russian railway systems through scale models, historic offices, and artifacts that demonstrate technological evolution.
Located near Paveletsky Rail Terminal, the museum welcomes visitors from Wednesday to Sunday between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM with regular tickets at 350 rubles.
The collection features the USSR Passenger steam locomotive C.68 from 1917 and P36-0251, the final passenger steam locomotive manufactured in the USSR in 1956.
