The monument was first unveiled in 2009 near Aurora Cinema on Nevsky Prospect in Saint Petersburg before being relocated to Okulovka train station in 2015. The relocation marked a shift in how the memorial serves the surrounding community.
The sculpture depicts Viktor Tsoi, frontman of the band Kino, who shaped Soviet rock music and remains deeply revered by fans today. Visitors regularly leave flowers and personal notes as a way of expressing their connection to him.
The sculpture is located at Okulovka train station and is easily accessible, especially for visitors arriving by train. The site is open and exposed to the elements, so visiting during fair weather is more comfortable.
The figure sits on a motorcycle that symbolizes power and rising above the crowd, yet Viktor Tsoi actually preferred driving cars. This artistic choice makes the monument a creative interpretation of his legacy rather than a literal biography.
