The statue portrays Denis Davydov in civilian attire on a pink granite pedestal with an inscription reading 'Penza - my inspiration'.
The monument commemorates Denis Davydov, a military commander and poet who participated in eight wars, including the Russian campaign against Napoleon in 1812.
The sculptor Vladimir Kurdov spent one year studying Davydov's poetry, portraits, and personal history to create an accurate representation of his character.
The monument stands on Moskovskaya Street in central Penza, following its relocation from the grounds of Trinity Monastery.
The bronze bust was unveiled in May 1984 to mark the 200th anniversary of Denis Davydov's birth without official authorization from Moscow.
