Tyumen Puppet Theater

Tyumen Puppet Theater occupies a purpose-built complex at 400 seats that the company received in 1972, after performing across Tyumen Oblast and neighboring regions since its founding in December 1945. Its stage allowed puppet shows for adults, and large masks began appearing alongside puppets in productions. The building was reconstructed between 2000 and 2002.

The idea came from Ye. S. Stivina, an actress at the Tyumen Drama Theatre, and the first performances were given in December 1945. From 1946 the company was called the Tyumen Regional Puppet Theatre and toured the Tyumen region and neighbouring regions. In 1972 it received its own 400-seat building, whose stage allowed puppet shows for adults and the use of large masks alongside puppets.

The theatre's name comes from its home city, and its repertoire is built on fairy tales such as Cinderella, The Snow Queen and The Little Prince, alongside two adult productions, The Idiot and The Master and Margarita, both marked 18+. Its actors have won domestic and foreign theatre prizes, and since 2014 it has belonged to the Tyumen Concert and Theatre Association.
