The Ryazan Oblast State Art Museum building represents Russian classicism architecture and contains extensive collections spanning from the 15th to 20th centuries.
Founded by Russian intellectuals on March 30, 1913, the museum opened its doors to the public on March 23, 1915, becoming a center for art preservation.
The museum exhibits Russian paintings, sculptures, and graphic works by masters like F.A. Malyavin, P.M. Boklevsky, alongside Italian, Dutch, and French art collections.
With 144 staff members, including 44 curators, the museum maintains specialized departments for archives, science literature, and art restoration.
The applied art section displays regional crafts including Scopin ceramics, Mikhaylov lace, Sapozhok weaving, and Kadom embroidery from local masters.
