Angels' Park, Memorial park in Kemerovo, Russia
Angels' Park is a memorial park covering around 1.8 hectares (4.4 acres) in the Tsentralny District of Kemerovo, with footpaths, lawns dotted with natural stone and a wall with a cascading water feature. The layout divides the space into zones, including benches along the paths and an open area in front of the amphitheater at the rear.
The park opened in 2019 on the site of the Zimnyaya Vishnya shopping center, where a fire in March 2018 killed 60 people. The project turned the site of tragedy into a space for remembrance and daily life, shaped with input from residents.
The name was chosen by residents through an online public vote that gave the community a voice in shaping the memorial. Today many come to reflect quietly while others bring their children to play, blending remembrance with everyday life.
The space is accessible and suitable for families with children as well as quieter visits. The fountain operates mainly during summer, while the paths and amphitheater area remain usable year round.
Sixty pine trees surrounded by metal barriers were planted, one for each person who died in the fire. The trees are linked by 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) of rope, creating a visible thread that connects each memorial point across the grounds.
