Dobrograd, Modern settlement in Kovrovsky District, Russia
Dobrograd is a planned settlement in Kovrovsky District, Vladimir Oblast, in western Russia. It sits in a landscape of open fields and scattered forest patches that is typical of this part of the country.
The settlement was founded in 2019 as part of a regional effort to create new residential areas in Vladimir Oblast. Since then it has gradually drawn families moving in from nearby towns.
The name Dobrograd comes from Slavic roots and means something like 'good town,' which reflects the founders' intentions for the place. Visitors walking through the settlement notice the orderly layout and the care put into shared spaces.
The settlement is close to Kovrov and is most easily reached by personal vehicle, as public transport in this area is limited. Visitors coming from farther away should plan their route in advance, since road signs can be sparse in this part of the oblast.
Dobrograd is one of the youngest settlements in Vladimir Oblast and was laid out from the start according to a deliberate plan, which sets it apart from the organic villages that grew up around it over centuries. This planned origin is still visible today in the regular arrangement of its streets and buildings.
