Church of the Annunciation

The Church of the Annunciation in Zaraysk is an Orthodox place of worship featuring white stone walls with detailed architectural elements from the 18th century. The building displays typical eastern Orthodox construction traditions with carefully crafted facades and interior religious furnishings.

A wooden church had stood on this site since 1614 before the stone structure was built in 1777. The foundation was closely connected to honoring city defenders whose graves are located at Lisovsky kurgan.

The church remains a gathering place for the local community during prayer services, where Russian Orthodox traditions are actively practiced by worshippers. Visitors can experience the living faith and observe how the space functions as a center of spiritual life.

The building is located on Komsomolskaya Street at number 28 and opens for visitors during regular prayer times in the morning and evening. It is best to visit outside of active prayer times if you want to view the architecture without interruption.

The building showcases an intriguing blend of baroque and classical style features that reflect a transition period in Russian sacred architecture. This stylistic connection is uncommon and makes the church a notable example of this architectural evolution.
