Tallbergsbroarna, Bridge complex in Nyåker, Sweden
Tallbergsbroarna is a bridge complex with three railway structures spanning the Öreälven river, with lengths ranging from about 164 to 338 meters. The structures use different materials and designs, from masonry to modern steel construction.
The first bridge was built in 1891 to carry the railway line across the river. Two additional structures were added in 1919 and 1994 to keep pace with growing traffic and modern requirements.
The bridges reflect different engineering traditions that developed across generations of railway building. Each structure shows how construction methods evolved to meet the transportation needs of its era.
Visitors can view and photograph the bridge complex from several viewpoints along the riverbank. The site is relatively easy to access, though some areas may still be undergoing restoration work.
One of the older bridges was retrofitted to also carry road traffic, showing how the structure adapted to new purposes. This conversion is a good example of how railway infrastructure can serve multiple functions over time.
