Länsteatern på Gotland, Regional theatre in Visby, Sweden.
Länsteatern på Gotland is a regional theater in Visby housed in a former church building within the southern section of the medieval city walls. The venue presents both theatrical and dance performances and also offers its spaces for external productions.
The theater was established in 1995, growing out of Bryggeriteatern, a free theater group that had performed since the 1970s. This shift from an independent group to an established institution reflected growing support for the performing arts on the island.
The theater presents performances for various age groups and regularly collaborates with local music ensembles. These partnerships shape cultural life on the island and bring different art forms together on the same stage.
The building is easily accessible on foot within the city, and the administration provides information and ticket sales on weekdays. The historic walls surrounding the location shape the environment and affect pedestrian access.
Since 2013, the theater has expanded its programming to include professional dance performances through participation in the Dansnät Sverige network. This expansion made dance an integral part of its offerings.
