Villa Fjeldstuen, 19th-century residence in Södra Djurgården, Stockholm, Sweden.

Villa Fjeldstuen is a 19th-century residence on the northern slope of Skansenberget with verandas and large windows overlooking the Djurgårdsbrunnsviken waterfront. The building was later divided into five separate apartments with varying sizes to accommodate different household needs.

The building was completed in 1835 as a summer residence for Norwegian Prime Minister Frederik Due, who chose this location to remain close to King Karl XIV Johan. The setting in Södra Djurgården provided convenient access to royal activities and the city's political circles.

The residence became known as a musical gathering place when the owner's wife, singer Alette Due, hosted duets with her friend Jenny Lind there. The villa thus served as a cultural meeting point for artists and music enthusiasts of its era.

The residence sits on a sloping terrain with views toward the water, meaning access points vary depending on your approach. Keep in mind that the villa now functions as private apartments, so interior access is limited for visitors.

During renovations, workers discovered historical documents hidden under the floor, including drafts of royal speeches in French and German lottery tickets. These unexpected finds reveal how building materials were repurposed at the time and offer glimpses into the everyday objects of the residents.
